"This was painted over the course of the year in four seasons in Blessington Gardens in St Kilda. Each season (segment) could be between 4 and 6 sittings, trying to capture a particular light or mood. From the left it is Summer / Autumn / Winter / Spring. I had a rough idea of what would be the cut-off point for each segment. I would cover each previous part so I wouldn't be influenced by the colours etc. and couldn't be sure how the parts would relate. I was absolutely sure the grass would all look the same - but NO!"
